Nutcracker painting update 2
More painting on the Nutcracker. I'm pretty pleased with how the panel shading is coming out. A secret, it's actually a mistake when I started, because I could not remember what the original paint coat was, and I started again with a slightly lighter shade. Happy Accidents...I plan to add a little more washed out lining, then gloss, decal, and the real fun begins, weathering this sucker up hard...

AFS MkII update
The basic color has been laid down. I also made larger shoulder armor using fake toenails and some bolt details I'll be changing the tone through filters and weathering

Size comparison
Just FYI, the "martian" is advertised as 1/18 scale, but looks darn close to acceptable 1/20 scale. Here's some side by side with the new Brickworks pilot kit and some suits. Just fill the holes in the head where the antennae go and you have a pilot. Cheaper at $20 that the Brickworks figures got AND you have a spacecraft!
My Favorite martian build
Just got this kit from Pegasus, it's really cool. It has a fantastic sculpt of Ray Walston- the "martian" the space craft took 5 minutes,... 5 MINUTES seriously to build. The paint on the Martian is just some rough basecoating.
